There has been so much going on around here of late that the best I can wish for re Christmas is that it passes without an 'event'.
Christmas has a habit of being eventful for all the wrong reasons.
Families reuniting once a year is a popular 'event' despite often disastrous consequences. Afterall if the family in question were friendly and loving towards one another surely they'd see each other more often than once a year? They get together hoping to putting aside family squabbles and differences but the feuding soon reignites when the gifts are unwrapped and someone got more or less than expected. Or perhaps there was a notable absence at the dinner table that had everyone rattled.
There is often very sadly a death around Christmas time. When I used to work in health we had more patient deaths around Christmas than any other time in the year and often, the only time of the year! I won't attempt to speculate why that is.
There are also often births at this time of year, the Christmas baby who has everyone swapping Christmas dinner plans for nappy rotas.
Then there is the Christmas traffic, the Christmas queues, not to mention the Christmas snow. All of which contribute to delays and frustrating journeys to see those distant relatives..distant in relationship and distant in miles!
Am I the Christmas Gringe? Quite possibly....
Dark humour aside I have a lovely Christmas planned and I hope it goes wonderfully without a hitch! :)

PaulI can't wait... :)
The good thing about holidays is that they don't last, forever; it's also essential to visit family, then, to recall why you wanted to leave in the first place!
Affection,
Paulhaha so true :)
No you are not the "Christmas Grinch" you are realistic. If you wish to resolve yourself from these "Family Woes" stop meeting with your family once a year. You have made it plain and clear that it is Nothing but Heartache to you, and I say if you can't have fun why do it?I was just making a general observation when it came to the family reunion thing.
That said I attended a funeral today and met up with some distant cousins I haven't seen for over thrity years! We probably won't see each other now until the next funeral which is kinda sad but that's how it is.
Wow! That is an emotional roller coaster! I was only trying to give you some positive thoughts about what you Can do to make things better. My condolences and bright blessings.Thank you Priestess, I am happy with my lot :) Happy Christmas!
Good points
