Britain's Got Talent, talent show has hit the headlines again this week after Susan Boyle the nations favouite to win the show was pipped to the winning post by dance act Diversity.

Newspaper reports said that Susan Boyle 'run amok backstage' shouting that she hated the show.
" A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "Police were called to doctors assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act. The woman was taken voluntarily by ambulance to a clinic. At the request of doctors, police accompanied the ambulance."
Earlier in the week we saw ten year old Holly break down in tears when her performance didn't go as planned and shortly afterwards had a full blown tantrum when she was told by show producers that she couldn't have a second go. Simon Cowell caved to the wails and pleading of the child singer and assured her she would get a second shot at it.
Holly got her second go and sailed through her second attempt much to the relief of everyone involved.
After other children connected with the show suffered rejection and defeat, the question has been asked, 'should children be allowed to take part in this show'?'
Personally I think the age limit should be set at 13, but as we have seen with Susan Boyle it really doesn't matter how old you are, defeat is still an unpleasant pill to swallow.
Given the lack of talent in the semi-final, I think the show should be renamed 'Britain's Got Entertainment Value' as some of the acts put through were clearly there for the 'freak show' aspect and had little to do with talent. This makes a mockery of the many genuinely talented acts that never got through due to not being 'likeable'.
It's all about ratings at the end of the day and the greater the shock value the more TV bosses like it.
I'm not sure I'll bother watching next year.
