Romantic Poetry

Love is one of those things that cannot be easily defined, but I have recently come across a poem written by a friend of mine, which for me has captured the romantic essence of what love is.
I was so touched by this poem, that I wanted to share it with you here so you can fully appreciate it too. I don't normally quote the work of others but as I have recently been writing about the downside of love and relationships, I thought I would restore the balance. This poem is a rather pleasing uplift and entry into all that is special and magical about love.

The poet is John Denny and you can read more from him HERE.

John is not a poet by profession, but he has a passion for writing and poetry and occasionally posts the fruits of his labor on his personal blog which is where I found the poem. He has kindly given his permission for it to be republished here.

The poem is called The Clamour', I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Please pay special attention to the last few lines, as they are the ones that I liked particularly.

The Clamour

We were the one

The same voice

The thousand ways

The multiple,

The one,

The same Ocean

Of all the drops,

The clamour and the beauty

In this moment

We were our last chances

Your heart my motif

No longer ourselves.

But each other

Inspired and caught, overwhelmed

By language

You were the unfoldment

Of what remained dream

You were the emotion, the beat, the magical

You were the mirror waiting to be seen

You were a mere moment

From the edge of

The collapse

The last angel

The last kiss

My hallelujah

In the darkness

Of the abyss

Somewhere in the feeling

In the moment

We were drawn

It was dawn

Unsure, unready, forsaken

We were moving

Between fields of light

You were the wavering

The rainbow

Between the downpours

Of what might be and what is to come,

A quiver

As we first meet

We could not speak,

Nor tell the others story

But tears stood

In our eyes

And in our faces

Glowed the new dawn

Love and the heart

Of each endless sacrifice

Endless life and love

Understood each other

And we were the one and the same

Together joined and

Forever bound

Upon ourselves in

Paradise

That's a great poem. I feel that It was written for my wife and I. We had a love like that from the very begaining till the dat she died. She was my everthing. Your right romance like we had is not command. It's a once in a life time thing.

That is quite a powerful poem indeed! Thanks for sharing it Leah. You know that one of our fellow writers here, Ben Jones, has a wonderful poetry forum. Maybe you can convince your friend to submit it there? Just a thought.
